Ego dies when we accept the unacceptable, and when we do it now. Ego cannot die in the future.
We think we are doing things. Ego says, “I’ve done this!” But we are not doing things. Things are being done through us. Like leaves in autumn, we are being blown across the sky.
No one can teach us to yield. In the region of the heart, we’re autodidacts.
Words are just words, of course, but a few seem to roost at a higher elevation. “Yield,” for example. We’ll get out the binoculars for that one.
All men do the best they can. If a man could do better, he would. But he can’t, so he doesn’t.
This is just how it is. Do not take it personally. It has nothing to do with you.
We do not make it happen. We are to whom it happens.
