Moderate men don’t try to control what happens. Why? They don’t mind what happens. They’re imbued with a beneficial indifference to life on the outside. They welcome what comes. They release what goes. They accept what is. “The poor you will always have with you,” Jesus said, “but you will not always have me.”
Many are willing and even eager to die for their country, but a country is not the truth. Where is the man who knows the truth and is willing to die for it?
Some men lose themselves at the centre of the wheel. We cannot say they are inactive; they’re just not moving. (What does not move is not noticed.) Other men, peripherals, are flying around on the rim. They’ve got a bucket list. They’re collecting experiences.
Remembered for his elegance and modest kit. Lionized for what he didn’t do.
Replacing negative thinking with positive thinking is like seeking relief from the South Pole by travelling to the North Pole. Less thinking is the better bet. How much less? Oh, say 80 percent.
