Besotted with causality

Everything that happens has numberless causes; nothing is disconnected; there is no such thing as an isolated event; and still we ask, “Why did this happen?” Or we pledge: “I’m going to get to the bottom of this!”

Fatherhood can begin and end in an instant, but in that instant one man calls another man “father”.

A good father is a godfather. It’s a temporary assignment. There is no biological connection, nor any need for one.

Un-fathered men are loose cannons.

Red herring

Since everything is inter-connected, everything has numberless causes. Accordingly, there is no profit in the question, “Why did this happen?”

Unless, of course, it happens twice, in which case the responsibility is mine.
