If I am chronically wanting this or fearing that or reacting emotionally, then my life task is fairly simple: Unlearn everything. Perhaps I should feel thankful that it doesn’t matter where I start.
In the game’s second half, there are sundry encouragements to let go of things—if not actual then conceptual, e.g., mental things. In practice, this means relinquishing our opinions. Sadly, for many of us, this is just not an option.
The good life is a soul-satisfying series of divestments. Only someone with a horror of accumulation can understand why this would be so.
