When Jesus said, “Call no man on earth your father,” he was not referring to Catholics. He was calling us on our cultural adhesions, pointing to humanity’s treacly devotion to a biological concept.

We are not what we identify with. I identify with what I see in the mirror, but the image isn’t me. Narcissus failed to make this distinction.
