We have three operational centres: Mind thinks, Heart feels, Body acts. We know this because they change. (We cannot see what does not change.) After waxing and waning, the centres shut down. This does not affect us.

The judgements of young boys, as Emerson noted, are swift, confident, and summary. Eventually, they become more equivocal, less certain. Their eyes flicker. They begin to speak from the calculator in the head.
Wisdom is a descent from the head’s either/or to the heart’s both/and. “If thine eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.”
It is not possible to love someone a little bit. We love (and forgive) entirely or not at all.
