Form and formless

Of the outer world, that of form and flags, we know a lot. Of the inner world, that of emptiness and silence, we know a little. We go where our interest takes us.

Spiritual combustion

A spontaneous act is unexpected, unpredicted, unrehearsed, ungoverned, simple, direct, immediate, natural and now. The more we think, remember and plan, the less spontaneous we are. Jesus was making a point about spontaneity when he said we were to become again as little children.

Food, water, respect

Respect (from the Latin for look back at) is a word for what happens when some inner impulse initiates the stop-and-pause of a second look.

Speaking of respect: men cannot live without it.
