To be who I am—to breathe from my heels, as Taoist master Chuang Tzu specified—it will be immediately helpful to relinquish past and future. Why? There’s no breath there. No rhythm.
Technically, I am not breathing. I am being breathed, 25,000 times daily. So it was said, God “breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.”
It is impossible for the man who breathes diaphragmatically to have a problem.
The real search is the search for oneself. If we are serious, we will stop collecting experiences. We do not need more experiences. All we need now is to breathe from our heels.
When we’re aware of the breath, we’re aligned with Life’s most foundational aspect.
