An open mind is a mind that does not judge. Yes, it has a way of seeing things, a point of view, but it nurses no opinions, harbours no resentments, renders no judgements.

A point of view is utterly benign, as natural as a pelican on a post. Opinions are different. An opinion is an urgent, opportunistic malevolency, a gimlet-eyed mental formation spoiling for a fight.
The things we think are important are not that important. Life is a series of little things set against the vastness of no-thing.
There is a secret society—a society of men who have points of view but no opinions.
Sometimes its members recognize one another.
Only those who belong know it exists.
The group is getting bigger.
