One love

Dig one hole. Dig it deep.

The psalmist did not say, “Two things have I desired…”

“If you put sincere effort in one place, the gold in the stone will break for you.”

No walls, robes or ceremonies

Life is a near-entirety of ordinary moments. Can we inhabit an ordinary moment without pining for a less ordinary moment, filling it with content or using it as a means to a more stimulating moment?

“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.”

It’s not a building, the temple; it’s an ordinary moment.

Like an arrow

Whatever you do, do it with your whole heart. Are you on the drunk-and-dissolute path? Do that with everything you’ve got. Are you committed to awakening? Allow no one to deter, deflect or dissuade you. The key thing is not to hop from one path to another, to mix things up. Disaster that way lies.
