There is only one freedom, and that is freedom from negative emotions.

More suffering is created by emotional reactivity than by emotions themselves. Emotions are fine, neither bad nor good, just passing through. Sometimes we identify with our emotions to the extent that we become them. While emotional reactivity can be understood, it cannot be justified.

Mountain man

The man is a mountain who cannot be provoked.

Everything I see

Everything I see, I immediately judge—right/wrong, like/dislike, good/bad, and so on. As a result, I do not see what I am looking at; I see my reaction to what I’m looking at. I break this habit by noticing it in real time. Now.

Fighting blind

When we bring reactivity to a problem, we magnify the problem. Reactivity is resistance, a call to arms. When we’re in the reactive mode, we’ve slipped out of consciousness and into the demimonde.
