All ego can do is resist, judge, blame, stand against, object to. Observe its response to this: Whatever happens in the present moment, even if it’s hard or painful, is for the best.
The problem with resistance is that it consolidates and energizes the condition it seeks to eliminate. Inevitably and always, it makes things worse, not better. Therefore, resist nothing. “Hold fast to the center.”
Because the ego feels most alive and necessary when it’s aggrieved, it’s aggrieved all the time.
True power does not oppose, resist, calculate or speechify. That’s ego’s game.
It’s quicksand, I tell you, this idea that I have been unfairly treated.
More and worse suffering is caused by men who take offence than who give offence.
