The difference between a wise man and everyone else is only this: He has no fear.
Let’s say that the goal is vulnerability, the living of a free and undefended life. This is simply not possible if we’re full of fear. Freedom begins with the recognition that there are no degrees of fear. Fear of anything is fear of everything.
It is relatively seldom that one encounters an honest man. An honest man has no fear, no weapons, nothing to protect or defend, no agenda to advance or tricks to play. He is, in every circumstance, unruffled.
