He who hesitates

If action is required, act now. In fact, now is the only time we can act. No one in the history of the world has ever acted in the future. Waiting is dying.

Some men believe that if they work hard their diligence will produce happiness in the future. But how can this be? No one in human history has ever been happy in the future.

Being and doing co-exist but are not co-equals. Doing is the junior partner.

Changes

If we wait for change, we wait in vain. Time does not solve problems; it consolidates them. Nothing was ever changed in the future.

Don’t look to others. Until we change, nothing changes.

Another word for dying: waiting. Waiting is zombie consciousness. We wait for death.

More even than flattery, which he called “ass-licking,” Gurdjieff disdained waiting. Of a man who wanted food, “He is waiting for a roast pigeon to fly into his mouth.”

He withers who waits. We are cause, not effect. Waiting has this backwards.

“Let’s think about it first.” Where would be the profit in that? Until we’ve done something, we’ve got nothing to think about.
